          Homemade Paper

The largest part of our weekly trash consists of paper. Reuse scrap paper to make your own one of a kind paper.
You will need:
Paper
Blender
Wire Hanger
Old Stockings
Sponge
Rags
Large Towel
Wooden Spoon
Large Plastic Tub or Sink
Water
Iron (optional)

Undo the wire hanger and make a rectangular frame.
Slip the frame inside an old stocking. This will be your paper deckle.

1. Tear scrap paper into small squares and put enough paper in the blender until it is half full.
2. Cover the paper pieces with water, letting them soak a bit, and then blend.
3. When the mixture is mushy, dump it in the tub or sink filled with four inches of water.
4. Use the wooden spoon to keep the paper/water mix stirred.
5. Dip the stocking frame into the mixture and raise it slowly, straight up, capturing the mush in a thin layer.
6. Set the frame on a rag, and use the sponge to take up the excess water, and pat the mixture flat.
7. Gently peel the wet paper off of the frame, being careful not to tear it, and then lay it on the towel to dry.
8. When the paper is completely dry, you can flatten it by laying it under some phone books, or you can iron it using a steam setting.
Once you get the hang of it, try adding dried leaves, dried flowers, dryer lint, or other materials to create different textures.
